Why idols hide dating

For years it was common practice to promise an agency no dating during the first years after debut. Two reasons are usually given — that what fans buy is not only the music but a sense of closeness, and that the early schedule genuinely leaves no private life. Clauses forbidding romance are now treated as a problem and are being written out through standard contracts, and as more people have come out publicly and kept working, the mood has begun to shift.
