K-pop

The name the rest of the world gives to pop music made in Korea. It is less a genre than a way of making things: an agency trains recruits for years, assembles them into a team, and ships the song, the synchronised choreography, the video and the fan contact as one package. That is why a track can borrow from half a dozen genres and still read as K-pop, and why it stays K-pop with foreign members or an all-English lyric.
